ILRI seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Market Economist to join the new project in Southern Africa on “Improving Market Participation by Small-Scale Livestock Producers”. The position will play a key coordinating role in a new project in Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe, conducted jointly by ILRI, ICRISAT and national partners. The main components of the project include: a) evaluation of constraints and opportunities for commercializing smallholder livestock production, b) testing and evaluation of alternative marketing and input delivery systems, c) and evaluation of impacts of market-led technology change. The postdoctoral economist will coordinate all the livestock and livestock-market related aspects of the project in the three countries, in consultation with the ILRI Regional Representative, and other ILRI, ICRISAT and national scientists. S/he would also play a key role in developing and sustaining the partnerships and communications activities needed to ensure that the project is conducted smoothly and achieves its objectives.
