The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) is looking for creative and visionary candidates to join its Forests and Governance Programme as:
1. Director, Forests and Governance Programme
The Director will lead research on how society can make more informed and democratic decisions that support sustainable forests and livelihoods. The multidisciplinary programme currently includes research on decentralization and devolution, forest finance and law enforcement, and collaborative forest management. In the future, the programme will also contribute to Center-level initiatives emerging from CIFOR’s new strategy, including one on climate change and forests. This position reports to the Director General.
2. Senior Scientist, Forests and Governance Programme
The Scientist, who will work closely with other CIFOR research programmes, will help facilitate and identify strategic opportunities in the field of forests and governance, including forests and climate change. The Scientist will undertake research, develop and maintain functional partnerships, support capacity-building initiatives, and assist in developing and maintaining donor relations. This position reports to the Director of Forests and Governance Programme.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Consideration of external and internal applicants will begin on July 23, 2007. Interviews will be held in Bogor, Indonesia in August/September.
