EMPLOYMENT: Economist/Social Scientist (IRRI)
IRRI is seeking an economist/social scientist to be a member of its internationally-recruited staff. The position will be based in the Institute’s Social Sciences Division with an initial appointment of 3 years and renewable for subsequent multi-year contracts. Renewal is subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
As a part of IRRI’s multi-disciplinary research team, the economist/social scientist will focus on research on impact assessment. The work will help in priority setting for rice research considering impact on poverty reduction and environmental sustainability. The specific responsibilities include: a) Developing an innovative research agenda dealing with ex-post evaluation of impact resulting from improved technologies, practices, and policies and ex-ante assessment of rice research; b) Guiding IRRI’s overall activities related to impact assessment and auditing; c) Collaborating with scientists/research managers from national agricultural research and extension systems (NARES), other CGIAR centers, and developed countries to conduct impact assessment research; d) Contributing to IRRI’s research and training on impact assessment techniques and applications.
