In May 2006, in partnership with the UK Department for International Development (DfID), IDRC launched a programme to support research on adaptation to climate variability and change in Africa. The goal of the Climate Change Adaptation in Africa (CCAA) programme is to assist African countries in adapting to climate change, and to support poor and vulnerable populations to find the most effective ways of adjusting to current and unavoidable implications. IDRC is seeking a Senior Program Officer/Senior Programme Specialist to join the CCAA, to be based in IDRC's Regional Office in Dakar. The selected candidate will contribute to programme development and support the programme's partner organisations, by providing expertise and intellectual leadership in Participatory Action Research (PAR). Bilingual (English-French) candidates with extensive experience of PAR in Africa and a PhD in a disciplinary field relevant to adaptation, are encouraged to apply.
