FELLOWSHIPS: The African Forest Research Network (AFORNET)
Junior Scientists Fellowship Program
The JSF program supports research in forest science and related areas. The grants are open to promising African scientists affiliated to training and research institutions in Africa who have shown the potential to undertake creative and innovative research in forestry in Africa, whether individually or as a team.

Senior Scientists Fellowship Program
AFORNET is also inviting African tree and forest scientists to submit multi-disciplinary and transnational research proposals that fall under one of the following thematic areas: woodland, natural forests and biodiversity conservation; community-based forestry; reforestation and rehabilitation of degraded and arid lands; socio-economics and policy issues; and non-timber forest products and lesser known timber. Grants are open to teams of senior scientists who are willing to undertake collaborative and transnational research in Africa. There is no age limit for the applicants to the Senior Scientists’ Fellowship Program.
