EMPLOYMENT: Agricultural and Policy Economist
ICARDA and IFPRI seek an agricultural and policy economist for their joint project, "Livelihoods for sustainable land management in Central Asia and China". This is a three-year, fixed-term, non-renewable appointment based at ICARDA headquarters in Aleppo, Syria.
The project focuses on technology assessment, livelihood and policy issues in relation to land, water and climate change. Key activities include analysis of land use practices and options and their impact on land degradation, analysis of the livelihood outcomes under existing land use practices, evaluation of the effect of improved land use on livelihood strategies and land quality, and strengthening the capacity to conduct socioeconomic and policy research in the region. The project will likely include climate change modeling.
