CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Varieties of Governance: Effective Public Service Delivery (GDN)
Global Development Network (GDN) and its regional Project Partners are issuing a call for submission of proposals for the project titled “Varieties of Governance: Effective Public Service Delivery”. This project will explore the role of formal and informal institutions, at both country and sector level, in the effectiveness (or lack of) of public service delivery in the areas of basic education, water supply and transport infrastructure (roads). The role of decentralization, functioning of specialized agencies, private sector participation, quasi-markets, community participation, and accountability to name a few, will be examined across the three sectors in ten to fifteen case-studies. Research activities will be supported and/or coordinated, with GDN, as follows:
- Up to four studies (mainly in CEE/CIS) will be funded and coordinated by the Open Society
- In Africa, up to three studies will be funded and coordinated by the Partnership for Social
and Governance Research (PASGR).
- In Asia Pacific and Latin America, studies will be funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and other donors.
Deadline: August 31, 2010
