EMPLOYMENT: Half-Time Consultancy as a Gender Resource Specialist (RDI)
The Rural Development Institute (RDI), an international nongovernmental organization based in the USA, is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a half-time consultancy as a Gender Resource Specialist on a USAID-funded, oneyear project in Nakuru and the Mau Forest region of Kenya. In cooperation with the USAIDfunded PROMARA project, which ARD, Inc. and partners is implementing in the Mau Forest region, this program will help to enhance women’s participation in the management of certain Community Forest Associations (CFA) and help to ensure women’s forest uses are incorporated into the CFA management plans.
Based in Nakuru, the half-time Consultant/Gender Resource Specialist will provide technical and logistical support to the project. Experience on gender equity issues and women’s empowerment required; experience working with rural communities and women required; experience working on forest resources use and management issues preferred. A degree in Law or other relevant social field, and 3 years of relevant experience required. A Master’s degree in the specified fields is an added advantage. Position requires periodic overnight travel to the Mau Forest region.
