EMPLOYMENT: Project Coordinator, Forest- Geo- and Hydro- Sciences at Institute of International Forestry Products Technische Universität Dresden

Applications are being accepted for the position of Project Coordinator (Research Associate) at the Faculty of Forest- Geo- and Hydro Sciences at the Institute of International Forestry and Forest Products, Technische Universität Dresden.

Project description: The research activities aim at contributing to the assessment of adaptation and mitigation strategies of traditional farmers of the Tropical Andean Region by establishing an International Network on Climate Change (INCA). This will be achieved through the understanding of the situation of local Farming and Forestry Systems (FFS) in the tropical Andes, deriving and testing livelihood strategies for small-scale farms and indigenous communities.


Job description: The Project Coordinator will be a team member of the Professorship of Tropical Forestry - Institute of International Forestry and Forest Products, of the TU Dresden. He/she will be responsible for the administration and supervision of the implementation of the INCA project and will work closely with the project partners in Peru and Bolivia.

Tasks: In close cooperation with other scientists of the project and local partners and stakeholders, the project coordinator will assume the following tasks:

Qualifications: Postgraduate studies (Ph.D. or Doctoral degree) in agriculture, forestry or social sciences; Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the relevant sector (rural development, climate change, management of natural resources, network building); Excellent communication and team coordination skills; Team leader experience desired; Work experience in South America highly desired; English language skills, fluency in Spanish, working knowledge in German (desirable); advanced IT knowledge required, availability to work abroad. The position will be based in Tharandt, Germany, with regular visits to the field locations in Peru and Bolivia.
