CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Research Papers and Case Studies on Land Tenure and Forest Carbon Management (REDD and REDD+)

On October 21-22, 2011, the Land Tenure Center (LTC) of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, together with the Translinks program of USAID, is hosting a special workshop on Land Tenure and Forest Carbon Management. The workshop will bring together a group of leading social scientists and expert practitioners to address land tenure issues within REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and REDD+.

The workshop goal is to guide international interventions and policy so as to improve the efficacy and equity of REDD projects, particularly in areas where land tenure is overlapping, uncertain or contested. We also hope to advance forest change research so as to better incorporate governance factors and land tenure issues. The workshop will yield (1) a special section of a leading peer-reviewed journal featuring research papers from the workshop, and (2) a compendium of case studies published as a report for international agencies and policy-makers, including USAID.

Given these distinct outputs, two distinct invitations have been extended:
