EMPLOYMENT: Oxfam America Researcher, Agriculture

The Researcher will contribute to Oxfam’s advocacy and campaigning for food justice in a resource-constrained world, focused on enabling small-holder farmers to realize their right to food and sustainable livelihoods by promoting more and better investment in agriculture and effective and coherent policies to address the causes of food insecurity.  S/he will work to ensure the policy agenda is supported by accurate and current research and data.  The Researcher will engage with consultants to produce research, monitor commissioned research projects, synthesize research, and provide data needed for advocacy activities.  S/he will also conduct research as needed and possible.

Oxfam America’s in-house research, which contributes to the production of publications and informs strategy development, consists of:

  1. Commissioning research
  2. Conducting targeted research
  3. Coordinating research, drafting and production of papers
  4. Providing data and statistics and checking facts as necessary to support advocacy activities
  5. Communicating existing and external research through the writing of policy and advocacy materials
  6. Contributing to defining priorities and directions for advocacy work
