CALL FOR PAPERS: Large Scale Agricultural Investments in Pastoral Lowlands of the Horn of Africa
The Institute for Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University is hosting a conference on the them of “Large Scale Agricultural Investments in Pastoral Lowlands of the Horn of Africa: Implications for Minority Rights and Pastoral Conflicts” on April 26-27, 2013.
The conference will focus on the broad theme of socio-political and conflict implications of large scale agricultural investments in pastoral lowlands of the Horn of Africa. Preference will be given to abstracts based on case studies referring to a particular investment. Comparative cases from other regions will also be accepted. Papers could fall within, but not be restricted to, the following sub-themes:
- The impact of such investments on demography and minority rights, with a short, medium as well as long term perspective, in pastoral lowlands of the Horn of Africa
- Large scale agricultural investments and risk of violent conflict in pastoral areas of the Horn of Africa
- Legal, political and policy implications of large scale agricultural investments
