CALL FOR PROPOSALS: ERAfrica Call for Collaborative Research between EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and Africa
The goal of the Joint Call is to create long-term research collaboration between EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and Africa. Research collaboration of a high standard between teams from EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and Africa will be supported through open competition.
Proposals regarding one of the following thematic fields can be submitted:
- Interfacing challenges. Research should address a question that is at the interface of two or more societal challenges, focusing on the linkages and relationships between them. Societal challenges related to food security; water security; energy security; health; climate change mitigation, adaptation, and preserving the environment, e.g. biodiversity protection; and the development of an information society are of particular interest.
- New ideas. The aim of the call is to fund outstanding idea-driven projects generated in a bottom-up
approach, i.e. scientists instead of funders deciding. The emphasis is set on the clearly
evidenced originality and novelty of the idea, approach or expected outputs. There is no
limitation to any pre-set thematic focus. All topics are acceptable and may pertain to all
scientific disciplines or combination of them. The projects may have an interdisciplinary
- Renewable energies. The main objectives of this theme is achieving improvements in the knowledge
generation, use and transfer of Renewable Energy production and supply technologies,
through strengthening Africa-EU collaboration and research networks.
