EMPLOYMENT: CIAT Research for Development Scientist - Central America and the Caribbean
The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) develops technologies, innovative methods, and new knowledge to enhance eco-efficiency of crop-livestock systems. Eco-efficient agriculture improves livelihoods of farmers and offers solutions to environmental degradation and climate change in the tropics.
Humidtropics, an exciting and challenging systems research initiative of the CGIAR, is aimed at improving overall agricultural productivity, and transforming the lives of rural poor in the humid tropics region, in the framework of Integrated Agricultural Research for Development. PIM, the program on Policies, Institutions and Markets, generates knowledge on how these three areas can be improved to help smallholder farmers and poor consumers live better lives. Humidtropics and PIM are collaborating in the management and functioning of R4D (Research for Development) platforms, and in the generation of research through these platforms in the Central America Action Area.
CIAT is seeking a visionary scientist, as joint position of Humidtropics and PIM, to coordinate and carry out research towards developing Research for Development and Innovation Platforms in Central America and the Caribbean.
The Research for Development Scientist will coordinate and focus research on developing Research for Development (R4D) and Innovation Platforms, involving local, national and international partners and other stakeholders.
Deadline: August 20, 2013
