EMPLOYMENT: Gender Research Associate Scientist
The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks an experienced social scientist, knowledgeable in the analysis of gender in agricultural development contexts, to coordinate implementation of the Gender Strategy of the CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas for Food Security and Income (RTB).
The position: The candidate will help the RTB Program to widen the contribution of RTB crops to food security and poverty reduction in ways that equitably benefit rural women and men.
The candidate will provide expert input on gender issues to teams including social and biological scientists, enabling them to strengthen the gender- responsiveness of their research for the development and uptake of new RTB technologies and practices. The candidate will collaborate closely with gender focal points in each center and build a team to mainstream gender. The candidate will be inventive and innovative in finding novel ways to efficiently collect, analyze and communicate gender-disaggregated data to inform and orient the Program’s work. As part of learning-through-doing in RTB, The candidate will support and back-stop targeted research activities on gender in relation to RTB farming and food systems.
The position will be based in Lima (Peru) and involve work in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The gender research coordinator will form part of the Program Management Unit, based in the lead Center and report to the RTB Program Director.
